Renaissance Renaissance redefines occasionwear, celebrating the complexities of modern womanhood while honoring the rich traditions of craftsmanship.
The brand bridges past and present, drawing connections between eras, generations, cultures, identities, and ideas, bringing them into a new era of innovation.
Founder Cynthia Merhej, a third-generation couturier, was immersed in fashion from an early age, growing up in her mother’s Beirut atelier. This intimate environment nurtured her passion for garment-making, where she learned to sketch, style, and photograph.
After studying at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art, Cynthia returned to Beirut to merge her creative vision with her family’s sartorial heritage, giving rise to Renaissance Renaissance. Today, the brand operates between Paris and Beirut, with collections proudly made in Lebanon, working closely with local artisans and family-owned factories to ensure quality, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Merhej’s designs go beyond clothing; they are artifacts of personal evolution, inviting wearers to explore their own narratives through fashion. Her vision is of a woman who elegantly challenges conventions, embracing duality—moving seamlessly between the poetic and austere, masculine and feminine, experimental and traditional.
Each collection unfolds as a chapter, merging timeless craftsmanship with contemporary sensibilities to create garments that transcend time.
Since its founding in 2016, Renaissance Renaissance has received prestigious accolades, including nominations for the LVMH Prize and the Fashion Trust Arabia Prize. Cynthia has also recently designed costumes for the upcoming film adaptation of Bonjour Tristesse, starring Oscar-nominated actress Chloë Sevigny.
